Sunday Remembrance Services

A service of Remembering will be held on Sunday 10th November at 6:30pm. Everyone wishing to attend will be made most welcome. We will also be having a pause for remembrance during the morning service which starts at 10:30. The Rev. Laura Hardy will be leading our worship this Sunday.

Please join us for remembrance of our fallen heroes.

Church Vision Evening

Sunday Nov 17th Church Vision Evening "Where there is no vision, the people perish..." - Proverbs 29:18 (KJV)

Having celebrated the rededication of the church building last weekend, it's vital we pay attention to what God wants us to do with it now. On Sunday 17th November at 6:30pm there will be a guided evening of prayer and reflection as we seek to meet together, discern God's presence among us and catch God's vision for the future of the Church.

Family Service

This weeks Sunday Morning service will be a family service taken by Judith Robinson.
The service will be aimed at all age worship and we would love to welcome all along to this, particularly the younger generation, who are always encouraged to join in with the worship activities at family services.
We are also looking forward to next weekend when we will have a service of remembrance for all who have died in the service of our armed forces. For all those who feel they would like to join us for this, a warm welcome is guarenteed.

Exciting Weekend

We have an exciting weekend in store for everyone this weekend and it starts with a celebration concert this evening at 7:30pm featuring performances by Phillip Horn, Ian Beetlestone and Bee Ororo, The Methodist Youth Brass Band, Matthew and Simeon Brook and Geoffry Lockwood amongst others (Please note this is an all ticket event, tickets cost £7 from Holmfirth Methodist Church). The concert really does promise to be exceptional. We look forward to seeing all those who are coming along this evening.

Holmfirth Methodist Church Rededication Weekend 26/27 October

Holmfirth Methodist Church would like to welcome all our friends, new and old, to the dedication of our new community rooms following their redevelopment.

After extensive building works over many months the new facilities have recently been opened and are ready to use. They are bigger, better and waiting for new groups to put them to use and so, we are having a weekend of celebration next weekend to officially launch these and dedicate them to God and his work in the community.

Report of Service 4 December 2012

Last Sunday’ worship at Holmfirth Methodist Church began with the lighting of the first candle in the Advent ring by Martyn and Cathy Till. The service was led by Barbara Rochester supported by Margaret Heeley’s worship team.

Naturally on the first Sunday in Advent the theme was “Waiting”. A short drama , performed by Jonathan, Laura, Margaret and members of the Junior Church, and a dramatic reading, read by Phil, Martin, Peter and Laura, both provided appropriate illustrations of the theme. As usual the lively singing was beautifully accompanied by Barbara at the piano.

Junior Church Nativity Service

A dramatic presentation of the Nativity Story, based on Luke Chapter 2, was the focus of morning worship at Holmfirth Methodist Church last Sunday. The main characters; a shepherd (Peter Beetlestone), an angel (Andrew Denton), a wise man (Keith Kitson) and an innkeeper (Michael Tolson), led the large congregation through the familiar story.

History of the Holmfirth Methodist Circuit

To celebrate the bi-centenary of the Holmfirth Methodist Circuit, a special book was editted by Peter Beetlestone, detailing the history of the circuit and the people involved. The book is available to buy at a special price of £5 (plus postage). For more details, please contact Peter on
