Pentecost Service

Following an early morning Holy Communion led by Rev Laura Hardy, morning worship at Holmfirth Methodist Church was led by a visiting local preacher, Kevin Dobson from Methley in the Aire and Calder Circuit of the Methodist Church.

Nativity Festival

A big Thank You to everyone who attended the Nativity Festival or provided a Nativity Scene. In total, 28 different Nativity displays were on show. The prize for the most creative went to Holme Valley Bulletins, who created the figures for their scene by folding up old copies of the Valley Bulletin - an amazing display of origami skills!Photos from the Festival can be seen here www.holmfirthmethodist.org.uk/nativity

Alpha Course

The Alpha Course is coming soon to Holmfirth Methodist Church.Alpha is a low-pressure, fun and informative course. It is a place to relax, share your thoughts and explore the meaning of life. The course is designed primarily for people who don't go to church, but are interested in the Christian faith.Look out details of dates and times. Bible Fresh

A celebration of 400 years of the King James Version of the Bible being published and read and an opportunity to promote and affirm our belief in the importance of hearing God’s Word in the Bible, which ever version is used, today.

Each Circuit in the West Yorkshire District has been given a particular month to promote and celebrated the Bible. The Holmfirth Circuit has October. There is a display available and the opportunity for people to write out part of the Bible which will be added to what has already been written by members of other circuits.

Sunday Service June 5 2011

Holmfirth Methodist Church enjoyed one of their regular breakfast events on Sunday morning. Food service began at 9.45am, with worship led by Laura Hardy at 10.30.
A simple and wholesome meal was followed by a straightforward and spiritually nourishing message about the love of Christ. Laura’s challenge to her fellow Christians was how to communicate the significance of the Gospel in today’s world.

Experience Ethiopia

The terrible pictures on our television screens of the devastating famine in Ethiopia in 1985 have stayed in people’s minds ever since and was partly to dispel the long-standing myth that Ethiopia is one big desert populated by starving people living in refugee camps that our friends, John and Jean Broadbent, presented “Experience Ethiopia” in our church school-room.

Friday Night Project

1,000 in six months…That’s how many hot drinks members of the Friday Night Project team have given out to people in Holmfirth town centre between 10 – 12 midnight in the last six months. The project has now been a visible Christian presence in the town every week for the past 15 months. During that time many people have commented on what a good thing the project is.
