Young People

Latest News for Advent time

The Church will be open for anyone to drop in for a chat or just some quiet time with a cuppa on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday between 12:15 and 1:45pm.

The Messenger

Our latest production of the Church magazine "The Messenger" is now available below to download.

If you enjoy reading it and have some ideas of articles for the next edition these can be passed to Kimm Brooke. The deadline is the end of February.

Messy Church

Messy Church starts again in the new year on Friday the 3rd January at 3:30pm and will continue on the first Friday of each month.

The theme for January is 'The visit of the Wisemen'.

All children and young people will be made most welcome (The parents usually enjoy it too).

Messy Nativity Celebration

Next Saturday 21st December at 3pm.

Come and celebrate with Sam the Shepherd, as he finds his sheep and travels to Bethleham.

We'll begin with refreshments, join in the Christmas story and then the prize winning sheep trail leaflet will be drawn.

You'll also have the opportunity to "rehome" a sheep at the auction!

This is for everyone, so bring your friends and family.

If you want to take part in the sheep trail then print the attached leaflet below and look out for the sheep as you wander around Holmfirth.

Messy Church Nativity Sheep Trail and Celebration

Messy Church Nativity Sheep Trail - This is taking place throughout Holmfirth now. We have chosen the local Kirklees "Home Start" Charity as beneficiaries from this event.

Home-Start is a Kirklees Charity which supports parents in giving children a happy and secure childhood. They recruit and train volunteers (Usually parents themselves) to visit families in their homes offering informal, friendly and confidential support.

Messy Nativity Sheep Trail

Ten local Primary Schools have been contacted, with a hope that many families will follow the trail and then come to our special Messy Nativity Celebration on Saturday 21st December at 3pm.

The celebration, which will begin with refreshments, will be open to everyone, so we hope you'll come too!

This is a real opportunity for outreach, but it has involved the designing and printing of many Posters and Trail leaflets. If you can help at all with the cost, Michael or the Messy Church Team will be pleased to receive donations. Thank you.

Messey Church Nativity Sheep Trail

Messy Church Nativity Sheep Trail - This will take place throughout Holmfirth during Advent. We have chosen the local Kirklees "Home Start" Charity as beneficiaries from this event.

If anyone feels able to help with the cost of advertising please give donations to Michael Tolson or the Messey Church Team.

Family Service

This weeks Sunday Morning service will be a family service taken by Judith Robinson.
The service will be aimed at all age worship and we would love to welcome all along to this, particularly the younger generation, who are always encouraged to join in with the worship activities at family services.
We are also looking forward to next weekend when we will have a service of remembrance for all who have died in the service of our armed forces. For all those who feel they would like to join us for this, a warm welcome is guarenteed.

Weekend Report for November 24/25 2012

Last weekend focussed on the teenagers at Holmfirth Methodist Church. On Saturday members of the Sunday night Youth Club and their leaders organised a magnificent three course meal for 65 members of the Church and friends. Together with a raffle and a hilarious auction of items generously donated by local businesses the evening raised over £1200 for three chosen charities – The Forget me not Children’s Hospice, The Teenage Cancer Trust and Christian Aid.
